Job Description:

The Business Analyst (BA) meets with pre-qualified prospective clients to ascertain if it would be appropriate to engage the business owners as a client for TTC. The BA interviews the business owner client to ensure that by engaging TTC the prospect will receive value through the TTC relationship. Prospective client business owners are located throughout the United States and typically consist of privately-held companies with revenues between $4 and $100 million.

The BA candidate needs extensive business experience from a high level strategic perspective and must be able to have direct and focused conversations with prospective clients. Candidates with C-level interaction and a past history of M&A experiences tend to be most effective in this role. Furthermore, the BA needs to project the skill set, experience and credibility for the level of services the client will subsequently receive from TTC. The BA must also be able to refuse non-qualified prospects that may not be appropriate for TTC.

This requires travelling on a flexible work schedule to accommodate the needs and availability of the prospects, meeting with the prospect on site, usually at the place of business, and confidentially qualifying the prospect as well as discussing in detail our services to determine proper “fit” for both parties. Prospective clients are developed and screened prior to a BA meeting during which time TTC’s services and potential fit for the prospects’ needs are discussed in some detail.

The BA will then ensure that prospective clients expectations are supported by conducting due diligence in the form of a face to face meeting and onsite inspection of the business. A BA must present him or herself in a highly professional manner at all times whether on the phone or face to face. The best BA’s will be individuals with high levels of personal business experience who can relate to and build rapport with owners of privately held businesses and empathize with their goals, needs and desires to ensure that proper expectations are set for a positive and fruitful relationship for all parties. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing to travel regularly throughout the US and work flexible hours
  • Research and prepare to engage in high level discussions with business owners in various industries and market sectors to ensure the highest quality outcome
  • Discuss and uncover the goals and needs of the prospective clients to ensure that there is a fit for our services and their needs – Requires a high level of business acumen and excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Engage in high level discussions about potential strengths and weaknesses of prospective client companies and be able to identify those strengths and weaknesses as they relate to the potential marketability and transferability of the company to a new owner
  • Work with prospective clients over what can be a significant period of time to facilitate proper due diligence, relationship development, and positive business development – requires excellent telephone skills and organizational and follow up practices
  • Engage appropriate client business owners and execute necessary paperwork to begin the TTC relationship

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • C-Level business experience is preferable as BA’s will be interfacing with business owners, CPA’s and attorneys regularly with a high level of sophistication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills are mission critical
  • Business acumen and sophistication regarding common business practices, book keeping, management, and business development strategies is critical to understanding prospective client businesses and providing accurate due diligence and ensure high levels of client engagement
  • Ability to read and understand P&L and Balance Sheet information as well as understand and identify potential strengths (Revenue diversity, business relationships, personnel, etc.) and weaknesses (customer concentrations, lack of sales and marketing initiatives, lack of appropriate financial controls) is mission critical to understanding the opportunity and properly advising TTC and the prospect
  • Particular expertise and experience in different industry sectors and/or experience running your own business is a plus
