The Transition Companies M&A Process

First steps

Meet with The Transition Companies. We need to learn about your goals and objectives. Only then can we use our expertise and experience to mutually determine next steps.

The Process begins with one of our professionals analyzing your company. Tangible aspects of the business are important but intangible assets are mission critical.

Remember: Buyers will pay premium prices to acquire companies that not only will provide a return on their investment but still enable them to achieve their strategic acquisition objectives.

The Transition Companies will prepare professional M&A marketing material based on our Company Analysis but packaged as it would be viewed from a buyer's perspective. We know what a buyer will look for, when and how to disclose it and how to avoid the "non starters". There is no substitute for experience.

In fact, The Transition Companies is so experienced and successful at packaging and presenting a company that we typically ask a buyer for an offer before they have even physically seen the business.

The Buyers

Forget the obvious. Buyers come from multiple and unlikely sources. Each selling company is different. The Transition Companies M&A Process builds a custom buyer list for each situation using our existing proprietary resources of 2000 to 5000 buyers based on many factors specific to the selling company.

Closing the Deal

The Letter of Intent ("LOI") contains the terms of the deal and begins the closing phase. Most company owners breathe a sigh of relief once an LOI has been executed with a buyer. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Anticipating the pitfalls and knowing how and when to deal with them are the key to closing the deal. An owners only professional advisor that is qualified to handle these issues is an M&A professional.

Having several back up buyers in the wings is also critical.
